NU-Asia Pacific College gratefully received the “Gabriela Silang Award” from the Department of Health for its invaluable contribution to the National Voluntary Blood Services program (NVBSP) of the Philippine Blood Center (PBC). The awarding ceremony, “Dugong Bayani 2019,” took place on January 25, 2019 at Hotel Rembrandt, Quezon City.
PBC wholeheartedly thanks the academic institution for being able to conduct mobile blood donation activities wherein a total of 30 to 99 blood units have been donated from October 2017 through September 2018. DOH annually recognizes different institutions for helping them save countless lives.
Community Extension Services Head Riza Ramirez received the award on behalf of NU-APC. The occasion was graced by DOH NVBSP Director Dra. Criselda G. Abesamis, PBC Head Donor Management Officer Dra. Melanie Sionzon, PBC Mobile Blood Donation Chief Dr. Pedrito Y. Tagayuma, and PBC Officer Salvador Aydante Jr., RMT. Among the other recipients is the City Government of Muntinlupa which received the "Jose Rizal Award," the highest accolade, for being able to donate more than 3,600 blood units.
DOH continues to encourage more people to participate in such life-changing activities. It also encourages everyone to live out its theme, “Handang magbigay, handang magsagip ng buhay (Ready to give, ready to save lives).”
